Somber Day
Last night DH's great-great aunt passed away. She suffered from a stroke and a fall. They moved her to a hospice yesterday morning where she passed away yesterday evening. She was 86 and was basically prepared for it. She has already paid for her funeral. We were as prepared for it as we could have been.
This has been a tiring week, so not much knitting was done. Within the last two weeks I have completed 2 pairs of socks and prior to that I made a lace hat for a girl who is undergoing cancer treatments. She has been wearing a felt or fleece turban type hat. Her mother was hoping that she would wear something else. She wears the one I made almost all the time now. The first pair of socks that I made were toe socks. The second pair were Geisha socks from Spun Mag's Summer Sock Collection. I am making a third pair that are a regular toe, but the anklet type from Spun Mag. The anklets seem to knit up faster. I did have a problem with the toes on some of them (you have to add stitches and then pick them up later. I always seem to have gaps where I pick up. Luckily, I visited knittinghelp.com and watched the sock video. It really helped.) Sometimes following patterns are difficult because the writers just assume that you know how to do a particular stitch.
